FOUNTAIN, CO – A state archaeologist is examining a human skull uncovered at a construction site in Fountain.

Crews made the discovery Wednesday while installing a drainage pipe on Old Pueblo Road.

An initial estimate by the El Paso County Coroner lists the remains as those of a 12 to 16 year old female, who may have been buried 50 to 75 years ago. She was possibly Hispanic or Native American.

Authorities will look for more bones nearby.

Fountain Police don’t think the remains are connected to any existing cases.
