COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – A Dallas-bound plane that took off from Colorado Springs had to return to the airport after one of its two engines failed.

An American Airlines flight landed safely Wednesday morning with 116 passengers and five crewmembers on board. No one was hurt.

The crew requested permission to return about 10 minutes after take-off when an indicator in the cockpit reported a mechanical problem.

A maintenance team is inspecting the aircraft.
