Investigation continues into plane crash in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – It could take up to a year before we know what caused a fatal plane crash near the Colorado Springs Airport Monday morning.

A small private plane went down in a field and burst into flames. Both people onboard were killed. They have been identified as Michael and Paula Fritzel of Texas. Fritzel reported engine problems before the accident.

The aircraft debris was taken to Greeley for further analysis. Much of the evidence that could have helped determine the cause of the accident was destroyed in the fire.
