COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – Robert Lewis Dear appeared in a Colorado Springs courtroom Monday afternoon. The judge advised him of one of the charges against him.
That could carry the death penalty. Then Dear spoke for the first time.
Dan King, the public defender for Aurora Theater Shooter James Holmes’ death penalty case was by his side, but the state hasn’t announced if it will be seeking the death penalty. His next court appearance will be December 9th.
El Paso County District Attorney Dan May says Dear could be charged with crimes other than first degree murder, but did not elaborate.
