Prescription drug take back day Saturday

Colorado –Do you have any unused, unwanted or expired prescription medications? If you do, this weekend will be the perfect time to get rid of them. Saturday is the Drug Enforcement Administration’s national prescription drug take back day.

There are several local drop off spots in both Colorado Springs and Pueblo. Residents in both areas will be able to drop off the drugs at the following locations between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. On Saturday.

Items that cannot be accepted are: needles and sharps, mercury (thermometers), oxygen containers, chemotherapy/radioactive substances, pressurized canisters of illicit drugs.

In Colorado Springs, residents can drop off drugs at these locations:

Police Operations Center, 705 S. Nevada Ave.

Security Fire State #1, 400 Security Blvd.

Memorial Hospital North, 4105 Briargate Parkway

Falcon Fire Department, 7030 Old Meridian Rd.

Stetson Hill Police Substation, 4110 Tutt Blvd.

Pueblo County residents can drop off the medication at three locations:

Pueblo West Fire Station, 51 E. Hahns Peak

Pueblo Rural Fire Station, 29912 U.S. Highway 50 E (between Wago Drive and 30th Lane)

South County Fire Station, 4495 Bent Brothers Blvd., Rye
