COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – A powerful storm pounded Colorado Springs Monday afternoon.

Swamped intersections were common. Police rescued two drivers near Tia Juana and Platte. Four people, including a child, were rescued from a stalled vehicle on Pikes Peak, east of downtown.

Several homes were flooded. Red Cross volunteers went door-to-door, offering assistance to those in need.

Almost four inches of rain fell northwest of Peterson Air Force Base, and between two and three inches hit other parts of the Springs area.

Flooding washed away pavement near Rogers Elementary School, near Circle and Pikes Peak.

Road crews are still assessing the damage around the city. Forecasters say there’s another chance for storms today.
