COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – A man wanted in connection with a homicide investigation was killed Sunday during a shootout with police. Another suspect was taken into custody.

The two men, identified as brothers Demetrius and Daniel Moore, were being sought by police after a woman was found shot inside a home in Security-Widefield just before midnight Saturday. The victim was taken to the hospital where she later died.

One of the brothers was located early Sunday morning near Boulder Street and Union. According to police, the suspect fired at least one shot at officers before he was shot and killed. One officer was injured from broken glass.

The other suspect was located near Chelton Road and was taken into custody without incident, said police.

According to booking documents for the El Paso County Justice Center, a Daniel Lee Moore has been booked and is scheduled to appear in court Monday afternoon.

Authorities have not released the identity of the suspect, but the family reached out to News 5. In a statement the family said “We are in shock and disbelief at the horrific events that took place today. We are extremely grateful for all of the love and support that has flooded in from friends and strangers alike and ask that the family be given the privacy and respect to mourn our loved one.”
