A man robbed Vectra Bank and fled with an unknown amount of cash, Woodland Park police said

WOODLAND PARK, CO – Woodland Park police tracked a man matching the description of the bank robbery suspect to a motel in Green Mountain Falls, according to Gazette news partner KKTV.

After a standoff, a person is in custody, KKTV reported. It has not been confirmed that 37-year-old Donte Lee, who police previously named as a suspect, is the man in custody.

The search for a bank robber led to four Woodland Park schools going on “secure perimeter” status Thursday afternoon.

A man robbed Vectra Bank, at 361 U.S. 24, and fled with an unknown amount of cash, Woodland Park police said. Police were notified of the robbery at 1:48 p.m., and at 1:54 p.m., campus perimeters were secured at Columbine and Gateway elementary schools, Woodland Park Middle School and Woodland Park High School.

The “secure perimeter” status was lifted after about 15 minutes Columbine Elementary School and Woodland Park Middle School “due to their location,” said Stacy Schubloom, spokeswoman for Woodland Park School District.

Gateway Elementary School and Woodland Park High School remained on “secure perimeter” status until 2:58 p.m. All district buses, which were briefly held, ran 20 to 25 minutes late Thursday afternoon, Schubloom said.

“Student and staff safety is our number one priority,” she wrote in an email.

Police have identified the suspect in the bank robbery as Donte Lee, 37. He is a Woodland Park resident and is “considered armed and dangerous,” police said.
