COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – The city of Colorado Springs has been awarded almost $6 million dollars in grants to buy properties impacted by landslides.

The money comes from FEMA, and will go toward purchasing 27 homes in the southwestern part of town, and on the west side.

Once the properties are in the city’s hands, demolition of the homes can begin.

The affected areas would eventually become an open space where buildings would not be allowed.
