COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – A Colorado Springs judge has ruled that it is illegal for the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office to hold inmates for the “Immigration and Customs Enforcement Division,” or “ICE.”

The ACLU filed suit, claiming the department was detaining individuals illegally even after they served their sentence or paid bond because “ICE” might consider the individuals for deportation.

A spokesman for El Paso County said they will appeal the judge’s order.
