Driving to the top of America’s Mountain will become a thing of the past for the foreseeable future

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – Driving to the top of America’s Mountain will become a thing of the past for the foreseeable future.

The Colorado Springs City Council unanimously approved a $13 million appropriation to begin construction of a new Pikes Peak summit complex this summer.

The work will eliminate nearly half of the parking, requiring mandatory shuttle service to the summit with certain exceptions.

Private vehicles will be banned from driving to the summit for the next few years.

Construction is expected to start in June.
