The Colorado Springs Police Department will pay a photographer $41,000 after he was detained for photographing police cars exiting a police sub station

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – The Colorado Springs Police Department will pay a photographer $41,000 after he was detained for photographing police cars exiting a police sub station.

The Gazette reports Terell Clayton was taking pictures in November of 2017 for the first amendment audits movement which tracks police response times.

Two officers thought Clayton’s actions were suspicious and detained him, while taking his camera.

Clayton filed suit and the city eventually settled with Clayton for the $41,000, and also agreed to produce a video addressing the rights of citizens to record police activity.
