FOUNTAIN, CO – Fountain Utilities will soon open a new water treatment facility designed to include groundwater into the city’s drinking water.

Nearly a year ago, the Air Force confirmed it found perfluorinated compounds in the foam used by Peterson Air Force Base.

That foam eventually contaminated the city’s groundwater.

On June 18, Fountain will turn on the first of two treatment facilities.

Altogether, the plan will cost just over $5 million, and the Air Force is footing the bill.
