416 Fire Update

Many firefighters fighting the 416-fire in southwestern Colorado have been reassigned to other blazes around the country.

The fire began back on June 1st, about 12 miles north of Durango, but the most active part is now in the San Juan National Forest.

Thousands of people were initially evacuated from their homes but have since been allowed to return.

The size is just over 54-thousand acres and containment is at 50%. Officials say it could take weeks to fully extinguish the flames.
