Creek Side Camping Banned

Colorado Springs city council voted Tuesday to ban creek side camping.

According to the ordinance, anyone caught camping within 100-feet from concrete drainage canals and city waterways could face possible fines of $2,500 dollars and six months in jail.

It’s expected to take effect on July 23rd.  Proponents said the ban will ensure safety along the creek beds due to flash flooding and will keep hazardous waste from polluting waterways around the city.
