Flash Flooding Shut Downs

Major flash flooding caused multiple closures and delays in Fremont and Custer counties Sunday.

Hardscrabble Creek, under Fremont County Road 106 turned into a roaring river Sunday afternoon.

The water wall was 20 feet wide and moved through Wetmore Sunday evening.

The Junkins fire burn scar from two years ago causes the water to flood easily and quickly in the area.

Also Highway 96 between Wetmore and Westcliffe was closed overnight due to flooding.

The Sheriff’s office also reported flood waters washing cars off the road and onto the highway Sunday afternoon.  So far, no injuries have been reported.
