Hero Honored By Colorado State Patrol

A man who pulled two people from a burning vehicle was honored as a hero on Monday.

Colorado State Patrol says Richard Krochta, a truck-driver, saved two lives while risking his own.

In August, a van crashed into a tree near Woodland Park on Highway 24.

Scott Smith and a friend were rescued by Krochta after he witnessed the vehicle go up in flames.

Krochta received the state patrol’s Certificate of Honor this past Monday.
