A large crowd turned out for a meeting Monday night on the topic of Issue 1 on the April 2 Municipal Election.
It would allow firefighters the ability to collectively bargain.
The forum was hosted by the League Of Women Voters of the Pikes Peak Region.
If passed, the measure would ensure that firefighters are able to receive contractually-guaranteed wages, benefits, and funding for equipment purchases.
Mayor John Suthers opposes the measure, saying providing collective bargaining to the city’s firefighters would give them an unfair advantage over other city agencies.
