POINT A: a place to start is the first exhibition scheduled at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs’ (UCCS) new downtown gallery, GOCA 121. This exhibition is the starting point for an ongoing discussion on contemporary art and culture, facilitated by UCCS. We don’t presume to know where these conversations will take us, we simply offer a place to start. POINT A features distinct installations by DeLane Bredvik, Corey Drieth and Izumi Yokoyama. Gallery hours: Monday - Friday, 10:00am-8:00pm

MOAN: Pleasure and Pain. Taking inspiration from a sound that straddles pleasure and pain, Moan features art work in a variety of media by UCCS Visual Art faculty and students as a part of the City Dionysia Festival. A maelstrom of violence, The Bacchae is a potent source for examining the heart of revelry, intoxication, and vengeance. Opening reception: March 4, 6 – 9 pm. Closing reception (with a live performance of excerpts from the Bacchae score): April 2, 6 – 9 pm. Gallery hours: Tuesday - Friday 12:00pm-6:00pm

Blue Star Mothers (Community Event)
Time: 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM
Location: Panera Bread 3110 New Center Point

The newly-formed Colorado Springs Chapter of Blue Star Mothers meets the first Sunday of every month from 2-4 pm in the Panera Bread meeting room, 3110 New Center Point off of Powers Blvd. Blue Star Mothers are mothers who now have, or have had, children honorably serving in the military. They are a service organization supporting each other and their children while promoting patriotism.
