DOUGLAS COUNTY, CO – Douglas County authorities say there’s no threat to the community after the bodies of a 39-year-old woman and a juvenile girl were discovered Monday in a home in Highlands Ranch.
The scene was immediately secured by deputies and an investigation was launched. Investigators have identified the woman as Cristi Benavides, who they say was living at the home temporarily.
The Douglas County school district sent a letter home to parents last night informing them of the death of Emma Benavides, a fifth-grader at Northridge Elementary School.
Grief counselors will be available today for students and staff.
