Decker Fire Continues Despite Recent Snow

The team managing southern Colorado’s Decker fire say Thursday’s snowfall didn’t put the fire out, but it’s providing needed moisture to help slow the fire’s progress.

The fire burning near Salida has burned more than 7,000 acres and is still only 14% contained.

Operations Chief Paul Delmerico says have another burning operation planned on the eastern edge of the blaze and once the area is secured, it might be possible to start sending some firefighters home.
