An online petition to create a new law in honor of missing 11-year old Gannon Stauch is drawing thousands of signatures.
The Change.org petition suggests creating “Gannon’s Law” which would require law enforcement to consider a child missing and endangered whether or not the child is thought to be a runaway.
The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office did not declare Stauch missing until January 30th, 3 days after he was first reported as a runaway.
The petition sought 15,000 signatures, but raised that number to 25,000 after it reached the initial goal Thursday.
