Area Ministry gets cease and desist order

A ministry in Teller County has been given a cease and desist order by the Colorado Attorney Generals Office. Andrew Womack Ministries held a weeklong event in Woodland Park last week. The State says the ministry exceeded the county variance limit of 175 people. Attorneys for Andrew Womack Ministries say putting limits on how many people can be at an event violates the groups’ first amendment rights. They went on to say their interpretation of the variance allows them to have 50% of their maximum seating for their auditorium, which is 3500, and the lawyers claim their totals were far below the maximum allowed.
