City Council votes against bag fees

COLORADO SPRINGS – Voters here in Colorado Springs won’t have to deal with a possible ten-cent per bag fee at stores any time soon. The Colorado Springs City Council voted down a resolution to put the bag fee on the November ballot during their meeting on Tuesday.

Councilwoman Yolanda Avila originally proposed that the city charge a dime per bag fee to help reduce waste and fund more citywide cleanup activities. A second proposal for the bag fee to be done through an ordinance was also voted down by council members.
