State unemployment figures rise

The State of Colorado followed the national trend for first time claims for unemployment. New numbers from last week show first time claims in the centennial state jumped from 8,201 claims two weeks ago to 8774 last week. It reflects what’s happening nationwide, where some 898 Thousand first time claims were filed in the first full week of October, which is higher than what had been anticipated. Colorado’s economy, much like the nations, continues to wobble as it tries to bounce back during the Covid Pandemic. Making matters worse is, 36 states, including Colorado are seeing a surge in Covid-19 cases in the last 2 weeks. And it may get more challenging, especially for the restaurant industry. Cold weather will force many eateries to forego outdoor dining, putting pressure on restaurant owners trying when it comes to staffing.
