COLORADO – A very grim scene is unfolding in Grand County this morning as The East Troublesome Fire burns northeast of Kremmling. The fire raced across Grand County headed towards the town of Grand Lake last night, leaving destruction along the way. The fire grew from over 19,000 acres on Wednesday to 125,677 acres and has expanded 20 miles north of Granby and Grand Lake into Rocky Mountain National Park. There is now 11 miles between the Cameron Peak Fire and the Troublesome fire. Grand County Sheriff Brett Schroetlin, took to social media at about 1:00 a.m. Thursday morning, saying;

“I don’t know what we’ll see in the morning, to be honest, daylight’s going to tell us a lot.”

The fire started on Wednesday, October 14th. A week later, the flames were spreading at a rate of roughly 6,000 acres and hour. People in the area were told to evacuate immediately and there are limited routes available out of the area. Many had to make a very precarious drive on Trail Ridge Rd. through Rocky Mountain National Park to flee.

As of Thursday morning, a massive area is under evacuation orders

The fire is now likely the fourth largest fire on record and it’s threatening to become the most destructive fire in the state.
