Officials fear two major Colorado wildfires may merge

By Kelley Rouland

During a press conference Thursday held by Governor Jared Polis, fire officials expressed growing concerns that the Cameron Peak Fire and the East Troublesome fire may merge. Since yesterday the East Troublesome fire grew dramatically in size increasing from around 19,000 acres to over 125,000 acres prompting emergency evacuations for hundreds of families. Right now, the East Troublesome fire is 10 to 12 miles from the SW edge of the Cameron Peak fire. Fire officials say there are not enough resources to completely envelope these major fires and that saving lives is the top priority. The Governor said he believes some of these fires are human-caused.
