Protesters gather at Colorado’s Capitol Wednesday

By Nia Bender

DENVER – Roughly a thousand people gathered at a rally at the State Capitol organized by Colorado Election Integrity Project and the MAGA Drag Colorado Facebook group in Denver at about noon on Wednesday. TheĀ event flyer labeled as “We Are The Storm” includes a quote from former general and Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn, calling for “patriots across our nation’s capitol to respectfully & peacefully protest the election results at your state’s capitols.”

While people spilled onto Lincoln St. at Colfax, the rally was peaceful. The crowd started breaking up at about 3:30 p.m. Because of the size of the crowd, Denver Mayor Michael Hancock closed city buildings early out of an abundance of caution.
