More questions about the U.S. Space Command

COLORADO SPRINGS – More questions are being voiced about the decision to move U.S. Space Command from Colorado Springs to Huntsville, Alabama. Now, more members of Congress are demanding an investigation into how the Pentagon decided to the headquarters from Colorado to Alabama.

Democratic Congressmen John Garamendi of California and Jim Cooper of Tennessee both requested that the Defense Department Inspector General look into the decision on Wednesday. The Congressmen said they were concerned that President Trump had too much influence over the decision.  They also said many of the civilian employees currently living in Colorado Springs may not be willing to move to Alabama in five years.

Several state and local leaders, including Mayor John Suthers, believe politics may have played a role in the decision. The Mayor said they’re filing a Freedom Of Information Act request to find out about the process used in choosing Huntsville as the permanent home. Meanwhile, Peterson Air Force Base will continue to serve as the temporary home.
