New developments in the Donthe Lucas case

By Nia Bender

PUEBLO – New evidence could very well delay the jury trial of the man facing murder charges in the disappearance of Kelsie Schelling. Donthe Lucas is accused of murdering Schelling back in 2013. On Thursday, Lucas’ lawyers said they recently received a report naming another possible suspect in the case.

The report was made in March of 2020, by a Pueblo police officer. With the new evidence, there’s a chance the trial could be moved to another date and that will be under discussion on Friday, but for now, jury selection is still scheduled for Monday, January 25th. Schelling’s body has never been found.
