Construction continues on a new base to help firefighting efforts statewide

COLORADO SPRINGS – Congressman Doug Lamborn spent part of his day on Tuesday looking into the progress being made with the construction of a new air tanker facility here in Colorado Springs. He toured the site at the Colorado Springs airport and he says he’s impressed with everything taking place at the site.

Once the base is finished, it will provide a landing and refueling area for air tankers fighting wildfires across Colorado.  The Congressman says the builders are executing a great plan and it’s incredibly important to have resources like this to support firefighting efforts.

The 20-million dollar project is expected to be completed next spring, with the base opening in March of 2022.
