COLORADO SPRINGS – Two major events are taking place this weekend and it may cause some problems for your commute in the downtown area. The City of Colorado Springs is warning drivers about downtown road closures ahead of Saturday’s 150th Anniversary Celebration and around the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Museum.

Portions of Sierra Madre Street and Vermijo Avenue have been closing daily since Wednesday for the Tokyo Games Fan Fest.  Additional streets will close early tomorrow for the 150th-anniversary parade, which will travel down Tejon Street between Boulder and Costilla.  There will also be an anniversary festival on Vermijo Street from noon to 8 p.m.  More information on the celebration by CLICKING HERE

The Tokyo Games Fan Fest continues through the weekend with the games being shown on a big screen and demonstrations of sports like goalball, judo, karate, and taekwondo.  More information on the fan fest is available by CLICKING HERE.
