Commissioners release statement on vaccine mandate

A vote Tuesday by the El Paso County Board of Commissioners to oppose both state and federal mandates that require health care professionals to be vaccinated against covid. In a statement the commissioners said many health care professionals are being forced out because they may be following the advice of a doctor to not get vaccinated, or they have a strong religious belief against vaccinations, or could be pregnant. The commissioners say this has contributed to staff shortages at hospitals and health care facilities. The vote is symbolic-the commissioners have no power to enforce it.
