Semi Crash Causes Fire Near Ft. Carson

A semi-truck that crashed early this morning sparked a grass fire near Fort Carson. Colorado State Patrol says it happened around 3 a.m. The truck was headed south on I-25 near Mesa Ridge, when it caught fire. The truck crashed, and the flames spread – burning an acre before firefighters had flames under control. Authorities say that part of the truck was burned. Crews remained on the scene for several, mopping up flames in the grass. The truck driver was able to escape the cab, and only has minor injuries. No word yet on what started that fire in the truck.
