Investigators say that a fire in Northeastern Colorado Springs yesterday started in a fire pit. Springs Police believe the blaze was caused by “smoldering ashes” in the pit. It happened around 11:30 a.m. in Stetson Hills, near Anna Lee Way. That fire ultimately burned 30 acres of land and damaged 20 homes – although no homes were lost. Over 500 homes were evacuated, and the evacs have been lifted. Fire crews say that multiple people near the fire were treated for smoke exposure. The fire is 100 percent contained today. Officers say that Joshua Allen was served and released for a felony charge connected to the fire.
