Action plan to fight future fires

Marshall Fire

9 News in Denver is reporting the town of Superior posted the “Marshall Fire Operational Action” report last week. It outlined a number of changes it recommended following the fire last December that destroyed more than a thousand homes and businesses. Two people died in the fire. Those recommendations were broken down by county and jurisdiction. Among the changes and improvements the report suggested were improved communication between incident commanders and dispatch centers, improving traffic flow for residents trying to escape fire. The report also recommends use of the Wireless Emergency Alert system to alert residents. That system contacts everyone who has a cell phone, regardless if they signed up to receiver alerts. The system was not used because personnel had not been fully trained to use it.
