Suspect Charged in Teen’s Murder

The man accused of killing a high school student has been formally charged with first-degree murder. 28-year-old Joshua Johnson was in court yesterday, and he’s accused of killing his teenage coworker – Riley Whitelaw. The suspect and 17-year-old victim both worked at a Walgreens on centennial and vindicator. Whitelaw’s body was discovered in a break room there. Johnson was later arrested when state troopers found him walking along I-25 near Walsenburg. Arrest papers show that before her death, Whitelaw had asked not to work with Johnson because he made her uncomfortable. Johnson is being held in the county jail without bond.
