Stauch’s Trial Start in Limbo

Letecia Stauch, a local mother accused of killing her 11-year-old stepson, has had her trial date delayed again. She has pled not guilty by reason of insanity. The judge in the case said he would not set another court date for Stauch, until the court receives her mental health evaluation. The court’s been waiting on that since March, and the state’s Mental Health Institute says it hasn’t been able to perform one because of a backlog of evaluations needing to be completed. The state requires an evaluation on anyone pleading not guilty by reason of insanity. Stauch was back in court yesterday, and is facing first-degree murder charges connected to the death of her stepson, Gannon, who died in 2020. Both the prosecution and defense agreed to the judge’s decision.
