Deputy connected to an officer-involved shooting identified

SECURITY\WIDEFIELD-The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office has identified the deputy connected to an officer-involved shooting earlier this week. Deputy Mark Carle has been placed on routine administrative leave, and the Colorado Springs Police Department has taken over the investigation. It all began Monday afternoon when authorities received a call about a man menacing an individual with a gun. Shortly after that, officers received reports of gunfire on Easy street near Fontaine. This led to a standoff. Investigators say the suspect—52-year-old Robert Wood— fired a shot at law enforcement, and the deputy returned fire. Wood was transported to the hospital for a gunshot wound to the leg. No officers were injured.
