It’s expensive to live in Colorado, and while unemployment levels are low in the state — critical positions remain open. Governor Jared Polis has introduced legislation to fill important jobs across the state. Employers are struggling to find workers in law enforcement, education, forest management, nursing and construction fields. Polis’s program would remove financial barriers to careers needing certification or associate degrees. This new package is modeled on Care Forward Colorado, a program that helped cover costs for jobs in healthcare certification — like EMTs and technicians. Polis says the new package has bi-partisan support.
