The Supreme Court announced it has struck down President Donald Trump’s use of emergency powers to set tariffs. The president used the international emergency economic powers act to apply tariffs to dozens of countries. In a vote of 6-3 the court said the president doesn’t have the authority under that act. Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser said in a statement Mr. Trumps ever changing tariffs create economic chaos and jack up prices while many Coloradoan’s stretch to meet their budgets. He added today’s announcement is a victory. Federal officials claim the decision would be catastrophic to the nation’s economy.
