The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office says the stabbing at a state park earlier this week was a hoax. Tuesday a park ranger at the Staunton State Park in Pine called for help after he claimed he was stabbed. The ranger has been identified as Callum Heskett. He was airlifted to a hospital and told officers the suspect fled the scene. A manhunt was launched but no one was ever found. Officials say during the investigation Heskett’s story became inconsistent, and conflicting evidence was found. They determined he made it all up. Heskett was arrested and is facing a long list of charges including false reporting to authorities and tampering with evidence.
