The Colorado Department of Transportation has lost 136 live cameras as part of its statewide traffic camera system. CDOT ended a contract with a company called “Live View.” That company supplied CDOT with traffic cameras, mostly in the Colorado high county. That deal ended in July. A number of Colorado residents are unhappy, especially in the mountains. They say they use those cameras frequently to monitor road and weather conditions. Officials with CDOT say they plan to install 69 of their own cameras, to help replace those lost. CDOT says they did not renew the contract because it was cost prohibitive.
