The 4th Judicial District Attorney’s office has ruled a shooting involving 8 Colorado Springs Police officers that killed a man last December was justified. A man identified as Dean Ackerman pulled a weapon when employees did not allow him into a restaurant in the 3800 block of Astrozon on December 13th. Ackerman reportedly fired a shot into the business, then returned to his car. Police surrounded his vehicle. Ackerman fired 4 rounds into the car roof, but officers did not shoot. Ackerman got out of his car and was brought down by less lethal force. But he still had his gun. He fired one shot in the general direction of officers who still did not return fire. One officer then testified Ackerman changed his angle and fired again at police, who had no choice but to return fire. Ackerman died in the incident. All 8 officers involved were ruled justified in their actions.
