Monday Colorado Springs City Council approved a plan to generate more revenue for the city’s need to help pay for the springs police technology fund. Moving forward, anyone convicted of municipal traffic or criminal ordinance violations will pay an additional fee, with the dollars going to a crime fighting technology fund. That budget line helps to pay for tasers, body worn cameras and flock cameras among other items. Currently those dollars are coming out of the city’s general fund. Springs police say these crime fighting tools are needed to keep pace with state regulations.
