The 2026 city budget has been approved by Colorado Springs City Council. The General fund is down 2.5% from last year because tax revenues fell short of estimates. The overall budget for 2026 is just over 900 million dollars. Most departments had to make cuts as Mayor Yemi Mobolade had to find 31 million dollars in savings. Public safety departments saw a small increase. The city will also use close to 4 million dollars in revenue coming from marijuana sales tax. City Council says their top priorities for the budget are public safety, infrastructure and essential community service.
