The Pikes Peak Library’s board of trustees has voted to buy land on the eastern side of Colorado Springs to eventually build a new library. Tuesday night the trustees passed a vote to buy land on Pony Tracks Drive near Petersen Road and Carefree Circle. The trustees cited a need for a library in that part of Colorado Springs, and the opportunity to put a library in what they feel is a centrally located area. The purchase price for the land is 936 thousand dollars. The trustees will reportedly use what’s called “unassigned funds” for the acquisition. The size of the purchase is just under 2 acres.
