Buc-ees, the national travel center, may no longer be interested in a location at I-25 and County line road near the town of Palmer Lake. Monument Ridge West LLC, the owner of the property, has withdrawn the annexation request. The announcement was made Wednesday by the town of Palmer Lake. Buc-ees has been trying for more than a year to put a travel center at the southwest corner of I-25 and County Line Road. It’s been a contentious issue for many town officials and residents. Some wanted the business because of the high paying jobs that come with it and an estimated 1 million dollars per year in taxes the town of Palmer Lake would receive. Others say it would have created a traffic nightmare, and other residents were concerned about noise and light pollution.
