The Colorado Springs Fire department has started another training academy. The academy trains people to become firefighters. At one point this program was part of the springs budget reductions for 2026. However officials were able to find some 1.3 million dollars in marijuana tax funds to allow the program to continue. 36 trainees will go through 18 weeks of training. CSFD Deputy Chief Tim Deleon says once they graduate the city’s fire department should be at full staffed levels.
