Grim numbers released by the Colorado Department of Transportation show El Paso County had the highest number of driving impaired deaths in the state of Colorado last year. 29 people died on El Paso County roads as a result of impaired driving. The agency says the Colorado State Patrol will be working with more than 64 law enforcement agencies around the state for another ”Heat Is On” campaign. That effort begins Thursday ahead of Presidents Day Weekend and will run through February 25th. CDOT says there will be more law enforcement on the roads, and sobriety checkpoints around the state.
